The larger incubator (IVS-9160GC) with 173 litre chamber and eight divided inner doors delivers a very good price performance ratio, while the small 33 litre model (IVS-9000GC) with six divided inner doors is ideal for use with lowered oxygen concentrations. Both of these triple gas incubators provide a condensation-free chamber with rounded corners for easy cleaning and the well-designed interior is fully autoclavable. Very fast recovery times for temperature, CO₂ and O₂ ensure a highly stable environment for embryo growth, and an internal HEPA filter prevents contamination. Other features include a dual-beam (non-dispersive) infrared CO₂ sensor and an access port allowing connection to an external XiltriX® sensor. Product Manager Han Weerdesteyn, commented: ‘Many IVF laboratories have moved to using lowered O₂ concentrations to improve the viability of the growing embryos. IKS triple gas (CO₂/O₂) incubators fit very well with the needs of these laboratories, being able to control both the CO₂ and O₂ level of the incubator. These very stable and affordable, condensation-free incubators provide the best possible environment for growing embryos.’

A new range of compact, bench top autoclaves from IKS International (Rosmalen, the Netherlands) offers functionality normally only found in larger equipment. Features such as a built-in steam generator, water cooling, vacuum pump, a sensor to measure the temperature of the load and a steam ballast facility to facilitate trouble-free cooling combine to give high-efficiency sterilization combined with short cycle times – typically one more full cycle per day compared with competitive compact machines.
